Yellow Dock

Yellow Dock, Rumex crispus is both an edible and medicinal weed. The Iroquois Tribe used the root and made tea to treat indigestion, kidney issues, and general bowel issues. Many tribes, including the Blackfoot, Paiute, and Shoshone, used the herb topically by applying the mashed root to sores and swellings. The leaves of Yellow Dock are edible and can be used in a salad or sauteed. It is rich in iron, Vitamins A & C, and other trace minerals. Yellow dock is a great laxative and can alleviate constipation, sluggish digestion, and diverticulitis. It is high in iron and can support anemia, especially during pregnancy.
