Nettles

Nettles, Urtica dioica also known as Stinging Nettles is a medicinal and edible weed. It is a perennial plant with deeply serrated, ovate pointed leaves and green flowers with yellow stamens. The Aztecs would sniff crushed nettles in milk to stop a nosebleed. Other Native American tribes used Nettles to treat bronchitis, respiratory ailments, digestive problems, urinary tract concerns, and gout. It is a diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and expels mucus and phlegm from the body. It alleviates arthritis and allergies. It is hemostatic, meaning that it can stop bleeding. Nettles are high in iron and can support anemia, it also helps stimulate milk production. Spiritually, it is ruled by Mars and fire and is used for strengthening, maintaining strong boundaries, protection, and exorcism. 

Caution: Do not harvest Nettles without gloves, as it will sting your skin and cause a rash. Yellow dock or Plantain can be used as antidotes to alleviate the sting from Nettles.
