Mugwort

Mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris is a medicinal weed. It is a hardy perennial with stout stems, alternating pinnate leaves that have silver on the underside, and yellow to dark red flowers. It grows to about 5 ft tall. Its name “Artemisia”  is related to the Greek goddess Artemis, goddess of the hunt, moon, and patron of women. It clears toxins and parasites from the body. Strengthens the digestive system and acts as a bitter tonic. It helps alleviate menstrual cramps and irregular menstruation. It can stimulate labor and expulsion of the placenta, making it contraindicated for women who are pregnant.
