Dandelion
Dandelion, Taraxacum officinale is an edible and medicinal weed. Do you remember plowing those little puffballs in the grass and making a wish as a child? Well, that’s Dandelion in its seed form. One seed from that puff ball can form at least 200 new plants. No wonder it’s so abundant! Dandelion is rich in Vitamins A, B, C & D, Calcium, Iron, Potassium, & more. The Ojibwa tribe used the root in tea as a treatment for heartburn. The Iroquois tribe used Dandelion for a wide variety of conditions, including anemia, constipation, pain, and water retention. Black conjure doctors & healers would use Dandelion to treat edema & liver issues. It is very nutrient-dense and can improve anemia. It supports & protects the liver, strengthens the stomach & supports digestion, and aids elimination. It is an excellent blood cleanser and can improve skin inflammation & flare ups. Spiritually it is ruled by Jupiter and Air, and embodies the energy of resiliency. It helps with connecting with spirits and can be used as a tool for divination.
Caution: Do not use it in cases of acute inflammation, bile duct disorders, cancer, or intestinal obstructions. The “milky juices” from raw Dandelion can cause nausea in children, if sucked on excessively. Be sure to confirm the plant is free from chemical sprays before use.
Dandelion is a part of Sweet Like Honey Herbals 'Easy Come, Easy Go' digestive tincture formula.
