Chickweed

Chickweed, Stellaria media is both an edible and medicinal weed. It is a perennial plant that grows along the ground, up to six inches high, with hairy stems, soft & silky oval-shaped leaves, and a white star-shaped flowers. Chickweed contains mucilage, silica, and vitamins A, B, & C. Chickweed can be used in salads or sautéed like spinach. It is astringent, alleviates rheumatism, anti-inflammatory, moistening, reduces fevers, and heals wounds and inflamed skin conditions. It also acts as a laxative and alleviates constipation. Spiritually it is ruled by the Moon and water and can assist in love, fidelity, receptivity, and nurturing.
